This was a project that I started in university, combining still images with video. I used found footage from when my Dad was filming my family members and footage with my friends was recorded using a cheap camcorder, including videos recorded on Snapchat and the iPhone camera. I wanted to keep the same style of recording of an amateur because it just looks more real that way.
These photographs reveal the important women I am surrounded by, not limiting myself to family but also friends.
The collages reflect on who they were in the past and who they are in the present. The scannable QR codes take you to a video interview which reveals more about my relationship with the women around me.

Reflection in 2026
These videos were filmed back in 2021. Looking back at this footage now, I realise that in some moments my focus was on my own perspective more than the women in front of me. There were times when I found myself asking questions that, in hindsight, weren't the most meaningful to understanding their identities or experiences.
It's strange to see how much your perspective can change over time. Looking back makes me want to revisit so much, but I also think there is value in allowing this work to exist as a reflection of where I was creatively and personally at that point in my life.
If I were to create this project again today, it would be completely different. I would listen more, ask different questions, and create space for the women themselves to shape the narrative. In many ways, this work reminds me that growth as a photographer isn't just about taking better photographs—it's about becoming a better listener.
