This was new. It was all very new to me. Did I particularly enjoy the process? No. Am I happy with the results looking back? Absolutely.

This job gave me a reality check about just how competitive the creative industry has become, whether you're a make-up artist, photographer or market vendor. We all want the work, but it's just as important to respect one another. There's room for everyone at the table, although not everyone seemed to see it that way.

What surprised me most was that, despite the event being held for charity, many people still saw it as an opportunity to promote themselves and get their name out there. In many ways, I understood that perspective because I saw it as an opportunity too. The difference was that it reminded me you can build your own path without seeing everyone else as competition.
